Opening a numbered window each morning in December gives a child something to look forward to before breakfast.

The trouble with most countdowns is that the surprise is over the moment the door is open. Here, each of the 24 windows hides a toy to play with, and 16 of them are die-cast monster trucks at 1:64 scale. The trucks have big chunky tyres and a solid, heavy feel in the hand. The other windows hold 8 pieces for building a scene, such as cones and barriers, plus a jump ramp and a play map.

Why is this advent calendar so popular?

• A toy every day: Each of the 24 numbered windows holds something new to play with, so there is a small surprise on every day of the countdown.
• Die-cast trucks: The 16 monster trucks are 1:64 scale with a solid, heavy feel and big off-road style tyres.
• Build your own arena: With 8 scene-building accessories, a jump ramp and a play map, your child can set up a monster truck show on the floor.
• Lots of different trucks: The trucks come in different colours and graphics, from sharks to flames, so each one looks different on the track.
• Easy to display: The calendar box is 32 cm wide and stands up on a shelf or table, ready for the daily countdown.
